Hackathon Challenge Tracks:

Tackle real-world problems through two dedicated tracks:

Analyst Track

Goal: Help coaches, analysts and other stakeholders manipulate and visualize data to uncover valuable insights in a novel way. For example:

  • Create tools to visualize dynamic events
  • Build an interactive dashboard to uncover insights from the open dataset
  • Design a tool to better communicate information contained within the vast dataset(s)

Research Track

Goal: Create and share innovative research that leverages the open data to create a new metric, novel insights or another substantial contribution to football analytics from (at least) the tracking data. For example:

  • Identify key situations or patterns of play using tracking and dynamic event data
  • Analyse the impact of combined player movements
  • Assess player decision making during critcal moments of the game

The hackathon culminates in an invite-only event at SkillCorner HQ in Paris (February 5th 2026) where the winner will be crowned as the SkillCorner X PySport Analytics Cup Champion.

This exclusive gathering offers finalists the chance to present their projects to a panel of industry experts, including representatives from SkillCorner, PySport, and elite football clubs.

Winners receive a PySport Grant of €1,500 to convert their project into a real open source package
